Stem Cell Treatment for Muscular Dystrophy Helps Young Woman Get Strength Back

Brynn was an avid hockey player until the deterioration of her muscles made it impossible for her to play any longer. Diagnosed at the young age of 12 years old with the inheritable muscle disease Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (also called Landouzy-Déjérine disease, FSH or FSHD), Brynn has suffered gradual progressive weakness and loss of skeletal muscles with no sign of reversal or relief – until now. After initial success with an adult stem cell treatment for her muscular dystrophy, Brynn recently received her second dose and her condition continues to improve.

FSHD is the most common of the nine types of muscular dystrophy, with onset of symptoms usually beginning by the second decade of life. Brynn experienced all the common symptoms with predicted progression. FSHD causes gradual weakness of the muscles, usually starting in the face, around the eyes and mouth, and progressing down to the shoulder and upper arm muscles and then descending to the abdominal and foot-extensor muscles.

Indeed, when Brynn sought adipose adult stem cell treatment with the help of StemGenex, she was ready to try anything that might help improve her physical condition. She was at the point of not even being able to do simple daily tasks such as laundry, changing sheets or even standing to cook a basic meal without becoming completely exhausted. Often times, she would find herself having to crawl up stairs and unable to walk less than a block. Even slight exertion caused soreness and pain. Needless to say, this type of exhaustion and chronic pain is not only physically debilitating but wears a person down emotionally and mentally as well.

There is no known cure for muscular dystrophy and the only treatments available are pain medications and mild physiotherapy to help retain muscle strength where possible. Often these only lead to minimal results. Brynn, with the help and encouragement of a wonderfully supportive and loving mother, began researching alternative medicines. She had gotten to the point of being willing to try anything that might improve her body’s ability to function.

So at the age of 27, with the help of StemGenex and experienced stem cell treatment doctors, Brynn received her second stem cell treatment. In a video interview we conducted, Brynn describes the ease of her treatment and how she understands the process to work. She explains that adult stem cells are painlessly extracted from extra fat tissue in her own body, and then after “awakened,” are put back in her body. No side effects and no hospital stay.

The success of her treatment has brought hope and joy to her, her family and friends, and others who suffer from similar medical conditions. Brynn smiles as she talks about the strengthening happening in her spine, neck and body.

Since her last treatment, the curve in Brynn’s neck has straightened, balance has been restored to her facial muscles, and new muscle is building back in her thigh and shoulder. Overall, her energy has increased, and perhaps most surprisingly to Brynn, the connection and communication between her brain and muscles is much faster, allowing more movement without the same exhausting physical and mental effort as before.
