Dave’s Story: Stem Cell Treatment may Improve Health, Energy & Quality of Life for Diabetes
Type II Diabetes took a lot from Dave Libby. Over the course of 25 years, it robbed him of his job, stole time away from his family and stripped him of some of his favorite hobbies. Even though Dave used an insulin pump to control his blood sugar levels, he still experienced terrible side effects from the disease: numbness in his hands and feet, and excruciating pain in his legs due to myonecrosis, a rare complication that causes thigh muscles to die slowly. Dave began to fall regularly. Many days he struggled to dress himself. Some days he didn’t even get out of bed at all.
Dave discovered stem cell treatment through a post on Facebook, and he knew almost immediately that it was the next step he was meant to take. As a man of great faith, he was opposed to using controversial embryonic cells and was intrigued by the possibility of using cells from his own body fat instead.
He is also an avid southern gospel singer. Even at his lowest point, he never missed performing with his wife and daughter, sometimes as often as five times a week. He was a familiar face at dozens of churches in Ohio, and for years’ members of those congregations watched as his condition continued to deteriorate. But Dave’s faith never wavered, and his commitment to worshipping God through song in spite of his struggle inspired many parishioners.
“In my wildest dreams, I never expected people to respond that way,” Dave said. “God provided this opportunity as a gift to my family and me.”
Dave’s wife, Kathy, was supportive of the treatment, but admits it wasn’t easy at first, and she also had to rely on her faith. She’d never been to California, and she was leery of traveling so far before meeting the team that would be caring for her husband. But she said that once they arrived, she knew they’d made the right decision.
“As soon as we got out there, they made us feel at home,” she said. “The doctor and nurse came to visit us the next day and they put me at such ease. We were all so happy with the experience.”
Less than 24 hours after treatment, Kathy was even more thrilled when Dave was able to button his shirt by himself for the first time in years. Then, when he went down the hall of his hotel to use the ice machine, he stepped on an ice cube and felt the cold moisture against his skin – another sensation he thought he’d lost forever.
It kept getting better. Members of his congregation noticed differences in him right away.
“The first thing everyone commented on was the difference in my color,” he said. “I was pale gray before the treatment. Now I look much healthier, and people are amazed at how much more energy I have.”
Just five months after Stem Cell Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes, Dave says the myonecrosis that consumed him with pain has resolved itself, and he no longer takes any of the narcotic painkillers he had been using every day for four years. He hasn’t fallen in months, and he’s cut his insulin use by almost half. In fact, these days he has to be careful not to let his blood sugar get too low.
Even Dave’s doctor is astounded by the results.
“My doctor was totally supportive of my desire to try stem cell therapy, and the outcome just blows his mind,” Dave said. “He couldn’t believe how much I’d changed in just a little bit of time.”
Now Dave looks forward to getting up each day, playing with his grandkids and spending time doing things he loves – especially the singing.
“I never stopped going to services, but now things are a whole lot better,” he said. “It makes it easier for me to go and sing, and that’s what our life is all about, spreading the word and telling other people how good God is. This experience has been such a blessing for us.” – Dave L., June 15, 2015This testimonial includes a description of this patient’s actual results.
