Stem Cell Therapy for Furry Friends
Imagine a St. Bernard with osteoarthritis in his hips, neck and spine so severe he was almost immobilized. This was the case for Simba, who at seven years old has begun experiencing excruciating pain. His owner, Jennifer McGuire said, "He can't get up and down, he can't sit. He can only lay down or stand up, and walking is very painful for him."
Luckily for Simba, McGuire is also a technician at an animal hospital. Simba has started his stem cell therapy this week and is the only animal clinic in town doing it. "I'm very excited about the technology and very excited about the chance that he may get to live a pain free life," McGuire said.
Stem cells are repair cells and it's honing in on the inflammation, so this is one of the first modalities that gets to the root of what's causing the animal's pain. The clinic is already scheduling appointments for pet lovers.
